Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina Jolie Voight (born June 4 1975 in Los Angeles, California), is an American actress, director, and producer best known for her sex appeal as also her humanitarian work. She was awarded an Academy Award for her supporting role as a mental patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter of actor Jon Voight, spent much of her youth in New York before relocating to Los Angeles at age 11. After two years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles, she attended Beverly Hills High School. She later studied drama at New York University. She also acted in theatre productions and modeled for music videos. It was during Hackers (1995) when Jolie got to know Jonny Lee Miller, a British actor (married in 1996 and divorced in 1999). As with several subsequent films, this one did not gain a traction. Jolie was the segregationist spouse of Alabama's governor, garnering plenty of attention in 1997. She later received a Golden Globe Award. She played the role of the supermodel struggling with addiction to drugs in the HBO film Gia in 1999. This role earned her many awards, including an award of the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. She starred with John Cusack in Pushing Tin in 1999. The next year, she got married to Thornton (divorced in 2003). Jolie was the carjacker's wife (Nicolas Cage), in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. Then, she took on the British accent as well as mastered street fights and kickboxing in order to perform the roles of Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. She played Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander in 2004 and also starred with Jude Law and Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow which is a suspense film that is set in the 1930s in New York City. Both films failed at the box office, but Jolie made a splash with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife who pretends to be an assassin. While working on the film she was introduced to Brad Pitt who became her co-star.
