Britney Jean Spears
Britney Jean Sparrow was born in McComb
(Mississippi) on December 2, 1981 and lived in Kentwood (Louisiana). Britney
attended dance classes as a kid and was a superb gymnast, winning many
contests. But, more than anything, Britney loved to sing. At age 8 Britney
attempted to audition for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) but was turned
down due to her age. She was then directed to "Ruthless" Off-Broadway
production, where she starred as the main character for two years. The show was
re-run for The All New Mickey Mouse Club (1989) and which time, she played the
mouseketeer. In the late 90s Britney was signed by Jive Recording Artist.
Britney's debut album, "...Baby, was released in 1999. Britney also sold 9
million copies (as as of July 2001) of her second album "Oops !...I Do It
Again" that was released in May 2000. Britney was born to Lynne Spears
(and Jamie Spears) and has a huge sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. Britney was
destined to be a star from a young age. Britney loved singing and was inspired
by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Britney auditioned for The All New Mickey
Mouse Club (1989-1994) on television at the age of 8. But she was too young for
the role. Instead, Britney, her mother and baby sister moved to New York where
she starred in a variety of TV commercials as well as an off-Broadway musical,
"Ruthless", where she worked as an understudy to Natalie Portman. A
few years later, her love of dance and music was a major factor. She auditioned
for a second time to appear on "Mickey Mouse" and was chosen with
Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Justin
Timberlake.
