Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe (born on
26th August 2002) is known as Lil Tecca, is an American artist and rapper. He
rose to mainstream fame through the release of his 2019 single
"Ransom" which was a top 4 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. His mixtape
debut, We Love You Tecca (2019), featured the single. It peaked at number 4 in
the US Billboard 200. The mixtape also included the singles "Love Me"
and "Did It Again". His debut studio album,"Virgo" (2020)
which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200. It also featured the Billboard
Hot 100-charting singles "Dolly" & "When You Down".
His second mixtape "We Love You Tecca 2", came out in August 2021. It
featured "Repeat It" as well as "Lot of Me". Tyler-Justin
Anthony Sharpe was born on August 26, 2002, in the Queens neighborhood in New
York City to Jamaican immigrants. He was born in Queens in Springfield Gardens.
However, he later moved to Cedarhurst in Long Island. From a young age, Sharpe
had aspirations of playing in the NBA however, after the age of 12 Sharpe
turned his attention to pursuing a career in music. Sharpe attended Lawrence
High School. Tecca, nine years old at the time, was rapping with the other
students using his Xbox to record. They would occasionally berate each other.
One was uploaded to SoundCloud in the past, but it was later removed. At
beginning, he didn't have plans to begin a musical career and instead wanted to
be an NBA star. Through his middle school years however, he began to become
bored with basketball and began to take music seriously. The first track that
gained some popularity, "Tectri", was made in collaboration with his
friend, Lil Gummybear, and was released in early 2017. The artist also dropped
"Callin" in the same year, which was one of his first songs. The hit
song of his "Ransom," which was first uploaded to Cole Bennett's
Lyrical lemonade YouTube channel on May 22nd in 2019, marked the beginning of
the meteoric rise of Tecca. The song reached number 4 on Billboard's Hot 100
chart. The track has been a hit with more than 990 million Spotify plays and
over 300,000,000 YouTube views.
