Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed She was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan (Duggan) an ex- actor and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths teacher. She has Ruthenian, Polish, Irish, and German family heritage ("Hyra" is an Irish and Ruthenian surname, while "Ryan" is the maiden name of her maternal grandmother). Meg graduated from Bethel High School, Bethel in May 1979. She moved to New York and majored as a journalist at New York University. Meg Ryan was her name and she began acting to earn extra money as she finished her education. In the year 1981, she had her first big screen debut, with only a brief appearance as Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor's final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was a test subject and was chosen to play Betsy in the day time soap as the World Turns (1956). She was in the show's cast from 1982 to 1984. Meg also had a part in the TV show One of the Boys (1982), however, this show was soon cancelled. In 1984, she moved to Hollywood and was offered an opening in the western television Series Wildside (1985). Meg was in a small part in Top Gun (1986), later being included in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred with Dennis Quaid. For the remake of D.O.A., she starred again with Quaid. (1988), and got married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg appeared in When Harry Met Sally... (1989), which made the scene in the restaurant famous. Meg was twice nominated for the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. She starred together with Tom in the highly successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg determined to act against her peers in 1994, playing the role of Meg as a drunken mother/wife in the film When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Meg returned to her role as "cute" after that with I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1995). People Magazine voted Meg as one of the 50 most beautiful individuals on earth 1994.
